Dealing with Aphid Bugs

Pests: these green aphids and I are in battle for my African Violet this year.

NEVER take a house plant into your greenhouse without being 100% it is bug free.

A single aphid can produce 6 billion offspring in a season. Yes, BILLION!

The strategy is to prevent getting the bugs, regular monitoring and then treatment as needed.

I crush by hand when I can and spray with insecticidal soap every couple of weeks. I use Safers End All. So far this winter I am winning but only just barely.

I’ll say it again: Make sure your houseplants are pest free before you take them to your greenhouse for the summer. And then make sure they are pest free before you bring them back in the house in the fall.
